Description
Overview
The primary purpose of the Senior DevOps Engineer is to serve as an Engineering team member to help maintain the infrastructure used to monitor State, Local, Tribal and Territorial (SLTT) government networks. The focus of this role is on development and architecture of a continuous integration and deployment process, and establishing a best practices culture for DevOps.
What You'll Do
Improve, maintain and thoroughly document the DevOps processes from requirements and design to production deployment
Analyze related tools for functionality and cohesion, and recommend or develop improvements
Support development and production releases and teams, including troubleshooting of release blockers
Develop and implement instrumentation for monitoring the health and availability of services including fault detection, alerting, triage, and recovery (automated and manual)
Work closely with development teams to create processes and tools that provide immediate feedback on source changes
Manage and appropriately escalate delivery impediments, risks, issues, and changes associated to the product development initiatives
Other tasks and responsibilities as assigned
What You'll Need
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field*
3+ years’ experience in DevOps
Experience with continuous integration & continuous deployment
Solid understanding of Agile development with cross-functional teams (users, developers, product managers, security and compliance)
Experience analyzing and resolving performance, scalability and reliability issues
Hands-on experience managing both Linux and Windows servers
Experience with programming languages such as, Java, PHP, Ruby, Python or Go
Strong communication skills
The position is open to U.S. citizens and requires a favorably adjudicated DHS Fitness Review for Public Trust Positions**
Must be authorized to work in the United States
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience building and maintaining production systems on AWS using EC2, RDS, S3, ELB, Cloud Formation, etc. and familiarity interacting with AWS APIs or equivalent work experience
Knowledge of at least one other cloud hosting solution in addition to AWS (e.g. Azure, Google)
Experience in monitoring and setting up alerting for Cloud components
Experience with Jenkins, Splunk, Containers (Docker), Ansible and Kubernetes
Experience with new development Pipeline technologies
Working knowledge of Suricata IDS, IDS signature functionality, structure and implementation
Experience with NetFlow generation and analysis technologies
Experience with Big Data Systems
*Additional years of relevant experience or a combination of an Associate’s degree or equivalent and relevant experience may be substituted for the Bachelor’s degree.
